Ruskin Bond Festival Day 4

The almost-month-long Ruskin Bond Festival came to a joyous end. There were numerous highlights on the last day, so without much ado, let's go!

The session kicked off with a surprise when Ruskin Bond spoke!

More specifically, Bond's robot spoke an apology - in Rusty's voice - addressed to people present at the session. (Disclaimer: The audio of the apology had been taken from a Youtube video posted by Imran Ali. The apology was never issued to us.)

Dr Seema Raizada, Dr Amita Singh & Ruchi Goyal spoke about their experiences with the festival - with organising, managing & speaking. They also mentioned that it had a special place in their heart since it was the first festival they had conducted specially for children.

Following that, we had Rushank Goyal sharing a few funny dialogues from Ruskin Bond's books (this also happened in the 2nd session, if you've been following us carefully).

Many other members also shared their favourite prose and poetry from Rusty's books.

Subsequently, the members were divided into 2 teams and a game of dumb charades commenced.

Team B won 70-40, with Perks handed out to all participants. (For those of you not in the know, Perks are a brand of chocolates in India.)

Just before the attendees dispersed for snacks, we handed out the participation certificates (like the one shown below) to all those who made the event a success.

The winners of the creative writing competition received an additional certificate and a book. They were, in order of their rank -

  1. Shachi Sharma
  2. Deshena Mehta
  3. Rushank Goyal

And this brought the long journey to an end.

P.S. We also got loads of new applications, which we are currently reviewing. You can pick up the forms at Swami Vivekanand Library in Bhopal or submit online at:
